Anne Hathaway Joins Les Miserables

Actress Anne Hathaway has been confirmed to star in Les Miserables, portraying Fantine. Back in August, we reported Anne Hathaway was being considered for the female lead, and now a deal has been finalized.

Hugh Jackman stars in Les Miserables as Jean Valjean, who has been released after 19 years in prison, and must carry a yellow passport which indicates he was a prisoner, even after he has served his time. Russell Crowe portrays Inspector Valvert, the policeman who keeps pursuing Jean Valjean.

Tom Hooper is directing Les Miserables from a screenplay by William Nicholson, which is adapted from the Victor Hugo novel. The book was turned into a hit play, which is still the longest-running musical in the world.

It isn’t known when production will begin on Les Miserables.

Les Miserables comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway. The film is directed by Tom Hooper.
